Bamboo Among the Oaks by Hmong Americans
This book is about hmong story of a pair of lovers named Tong and Jennifer. They were at a event and there was a lot of people inside. And they had music on and people were dancing around having a good time. So then finally both of their eyes meant and saw each other across the room. And as Jennifer hesitated on the other side of the room Tong made his way across the room to approach and ask her.
But then when he ask for them to both dance together she didn’t reply to him and act as if she didn’t hear him. Then he repeated himself a little louder this time and she replied with a “hi”. As she turns and moves a few steps away from him as she was getting annoyed but he still followed her.
At that point he was giving up losing confident but still he did ask her again, and still no answer.
“ What makes you think I’m hmong?” Jennifer asked Tong.
“ Chances are if you're asian then your hmong.” He replies as he wonders about it.
“ Lee that’s my last name.” she said to him as she stared at him.
“ Oh sorry, my last name is lee too”. Tong answered as he blushed because they shared the same last name. They gave each other a weird stare at each other and went their own separate ways.
