Trees in Summer
The wind blew though the trees in summertime.
The sun shone down upon my face that day
and running water soothed my heated face.
The grass rolled underneath these feet of mine
and birds flew through the trees toward the sky.
I looked up to the clouds and saw that they
had covered up the sunshine that would play
across the open expanse of my eyes.
The birds, they trilled their sweetest songs for me,
the darkness of their shadows on the ground.
Nature certainly brings me great peace.
I closed my eyes and in my heart was glee.
My ears, they buzzed; I could not hear a sound
as all my problems chose to let me be.
