Novocain Stain
With Video games spread across my room
I stared at the TV on the shelf
Changing through lives as I please
I don't think it shows
Papers pile up
Good and bad
I've developed a horrible habit
With fear and fascination
I'll make decisions that determine my future
With no knowledge of where I want it to go
And it all seems a little abrupt
I can't even write a poem for English class
I can't even decide where I want to eat lunch
I can't even decide what I want to wear
I can't even have a normal conversation with a stranger
I can't even convince myself to start on homework
I can't even afford gas for my own car
I can't even decide what I want to do for the rest of my life
No, I don't like this change of pace.

This poem was inspired by the song Novocain Stain by Modest Mouse is based off the same theme of the song. My poem is about the transition from being a young and naive boy to someone who is expected to act as an adult seems to happen all to fast.
