Raggedy Man
There's a little girl standing in the moonlight
Wide awake in the middle of the night
Red hair, wool coat, suitcase in her hand
She's waiting in the garden for her Raggedy Man
Hurry down from the stars, Mr. Raggedy Man
Hurry up and find her while you still can
There's still time; it's not too late
Fly to the garden of the girl who waits
Alone in the flowers the little girl waits
But the stars are going out and the night's growing late
She's lonely and frightened, but she trusts as best she can
She won't lose faith in her Raggedy Man
Hurry down from the stars, Mr. Raggedy Man
Hurry up and find her while you still can
There's still time; it's not too late
Fly to the garden of the girl who waits
But now the hours have turned to years
And a million kisses have dried her tears
But nothing can fill the emptiness inside
And she feels as though a part of her has died
But at the closing of every day
She doesn't care what they all say
She goes out to the garden, suitcase in hand
And she sits and she waits for her Raggedy Man
Hurry down from the stars, Mr. Raggedy Man
Hurry up and find her while you still can
There's still time; it's not too late
Fly to the garden of the girl who waits

This is a song/poem inspired by the character Amy Pond from Doctor Who. The image of little Amy, sitting in her garden and waiting for her "imaginary" friend to return reminded me of my childhood and the bittersweet feeling that comes with growing up.
