The first time I truly felt joy
no, it wasn't because of a boy
or a stupid compliment
or a dirty joke

I felt it ring through my toes
the joy flew from my heart to my toes
as my soul struck such a confident pose

the moonlight shone over my warm room
as the purple shadow lurked over me, the first time I felt joy

My heart played the perfect melody
as my learns listened to what heaven must be
a new Regina Spektor CD
The first time I felt joy
yes, it was music
