Honeybees Die After Stinging; You Grow Stronger
A bee stings me,
in defense
of his life.
His stinger ejecting,
from his body
injecting into mine.
The pin-prick hole
swells with fear.
I remove his lifeline,
from my hand.
The swelling goes down,
but the pain remains.
I reach into my ribcage,
and remove your stinger
from my heart.
But unlike the bee,
your injection was not
out of defense, nor fear.
Your injection,
was out of
hatred.
But the pin-prick hole
swells all the same.

This piece came to me, heartbroken on my front porch, when a bee stung me. I overdramatized my situation, and rolled with it. This piece placed in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competion!
