Emptiness
Emptiness
is not the state of being empty
but the rather the absence
of the things
you need most.
Many describe it as
a hole
or a pit
that is dug within the soul,
but that's not what I believe.
I believe
emptiness is a fire
fueled by regret and loneliness.
If you pay close attention,
you can feel it burning in your chest.
You can hear the crackle of your soul
as it withers away,
slowly,
like a piece of firewood.
You can smell the smoke
that contaminates your body,
leaving traces of soul in your blood.
Just know
that someday
someone will put out that fire in your soul
and
piece by piece
your soul will be
whole once again.
