a stranger
As I search within myself
For what it is that rests
At the very least a sojourner
I find I have made a stranger
Of my real friend or foe
To feel loved and out of danger
It was my soul I lost sight of
When my heart closed
In the early days, it cost
Me the self I almost
was I need the self
I still can be for that I must
Mysterious the presence
That has seemed my best guest
It kept me safe like a visitor
But beheld me a newcomer
I must walk out beyond its gates
And thru the fears
Before it gets too late
Becoming an acquaintance of myself
Thru the mirror where we met
