A Simple World
I longed for a simpler world,
one without violence, hate or crime.
Where instead of buying that ice cream cone,
you gave the homeless man your dime.
Where woman in Afghanistan could walk to school
without the fear of being shot.
Where an african american could walk the streets
without being questioned or stopped.
I longed for no war or hostility,
no bullies to hurt you,
starvation or child abuse,
and where you could just be you.
Hate would be subtracted
from the face of our earth.
Destroyed and burn to ashes,
so why still question your worth?
And so I longed for those things,
and as time passes by,
I learned to love and appreciate
until the day I die.
