Stay Strong
My name…is Cancer
My body…is Cancer
I lay in my hospital bed watching through the small peaks between the blinds
Normal people walking by enjoying their life
I have to fight for mine, I have to cry and face the fear of dying
My name is Cancer
I have nothing else anymore
No hair
No strength
No friends
Leukemia has taken over my life
I no longer laugh and smile at stupid things
My nurse walks in and she smiles at me
I can only think of how sympathetic her smile is
I don’t want pity, I want people to look at me and say wow
I want to SURVIVE
I want to beat Cancer
I want to LIVE
2 years later
In remission, smiling enjoying life with my parents
At lunch one day I run with my sister
Then everything goes black
I squint through my eyelids and see my family hovered around me
I know that my next words are my last so I say
Stay Strong.
