Mexico
The heat drives them forward
Slumped broken shapes
Punctuating the landscape
Like ants
Prickled withered plants
Erupt from the baked earth
Like drowning swimmers
Reaching for air
Dust cakes it all
Their eyelashes and their skin
But they continue on
In a silent snaking queue
Deliberate in their slow but steady quest
The shadows of their weaponry
Stretches out beyond them
Beneath an apocalyptic sunset
Onwards they travel
Pursuing the retreating sun
Plunging into darkness
Where dark deeds follow
