Finals
Students wallow in misery for
weeks preceding this unholy event.
Having studied or not they are unprepared.
Some hope their relationships with the teacher
will help sway grades,
maybe sweets in exchange for a lenient hand.
While some may depend on others knowledge
to scrape them though this test.
Half a glance to one side or another,
three more answers stolen as their own.
Honesty and integrity are long out the window.
Write large and clearly,
don't cover your paper with your arm
and at this point everyone's fully capable of testing
with one eye on the teacher.
Devious and deceitful?
No, it’s nothing but a survival skill.
