The Cold Took Him Away MAG

Sweet summer filled our senses
and left us salty, crunchy and
burning out with the August sun
Cold came briskly
and we sat beside the sea
whispering words to the waves
as they crashed in
Our heads buried under
a blanket of stars
Hands sheltered in sand
and toes tickled by the salty tears
I wished you could stay –
that maybe time would suddenly freeze
But the cold came
and you had to go
