The Game of Life MAG
Top hat-sized cubes tumble down
to mint-green earth.
Gluttonous bankers scrambling in circles to find their way to the top.
Anxiously risking money on the whim of putting somebody else in the hot seat.
Skyscrapers mockingly standing their ground
until the wrecking ball of life knocks them down,
sending butterflies of greed and selfishness to sink their teeth into the depths of your growing mind.
The desperate desire for money sets in,
to the point where people will throw you
behind bars,
and leave you burning in the wind
to get what they think they need.
Marking your property
with no one allowed unless the price is paid
because what even is justice if it’s not really happening?
Riding up on highs of winning beauty contests and earning a raise,
only to sink down on lows of paying what
you owe and karma biting you where
it hurts the most:
The wallet.
Sending you down spiraling tubes of spinning wheels and pressing your luck,
revolutionizing the ideas of competition
and power.
Minds overwhelmed with the passion and desire to come out victorious.
In the blink of an eye,
the pendulum of your actions comes back swinging and knocks you off the balance of society
ending any shot at revenge.
With nothing left to hold on to
no money in your pocket
no gold medal around your neck
you carry on
without success
and yet another loss,
checked off on your scoreboard.
