Diamond
I grew up on a diamond
Full of dirt
With white squares and chalk lines
My shoes were always double knotted
With plastic spikes on the bottom that dug into
The red and powdery field
My friends were also my teammates
Who supported me
And gave me the confidence to do what I loved
Years later I continue to play
The sport I fell in love with
When I was just a little girl
Softball is a part of me
It affects my life every single day
I will never be able to say goodbye
Because that little dirty diamond
Has become my getaway
Where I find my piece of mind
