A Poem of Elders

The words of our elders, echoed by our brothers.
They are hollow now and don’t ring true,
These words aren’t true.

We have eyes to wonder but lack tongues to praise.
Lips to open but nothing to say,
A folly some would say.

A destruction of the way we live day by day.
The words today mean nothing either way,
It’s not going to end well by the way.

They say this war will be over before the sun rises.
A time of deceit and false promises,
They always made promises.

Some would say there’s an error in which we live.
Progress above all else,
Yet in the end there will be nothing else.
