True Grit
One time it lead me by the hand
to a dark and sunless path
one filled with spikes and ridges
and protruding angles of hate.
My lips formed words of reply
but to no avail did they appear
because they stuck inside my trap of
shadows and sadness
they call a mouth.
I jerked away
I thrashed and writhed
But my arms gave out
and slumped at my pale sides
And that was when I realized
the true grit and persistence
of gloom,
sadness,
and despondency

I was inspired by my own sadness and low points. I wanted to kind of personify life and sadness so that people could understand the topic more.
