My angel
My angel,
Skin as soft as her smile, her hair made of silk.
Her beauty shined brighter than the lord himself.
The halo on top her head sits at a slight lean,
But I’ve never noticed myself.
She broke away the shell of the scrooge I’ve become.
The past never fazed me,
And the future no longer scared me -
For I saw her there.
She took my hand
And showed me there was nothing to fear.
My angel,
Her wings carried me upwards and
The cooling air refreshed my burnt flesh.
She gasped for breath as sweat run down her face.
Pain is a heavy package to carry.
I see her wings begin to melt,
As we fall back down.
Her face looks so sad and torn.
She’s exhausted and defeated
My angel,
Don’t you know?
Angels don’t belong in Hell.
