Undeserving Heroes
We all believe we are heroes of this world
Forever saving and preserving the earth
Deserving praise for every move and deed
Even if you fall and fail
Worship should surround you
While others are left in the shadows
We all believe we are heroes of this world
But I am not like all those other followers
I see something different than the generic savior
I see the small town hero never given credit
Running into fires and diving into seas
Just to rescue you and me
We all believe we are heroes of this world
But that is just a deception written long ago
Ingrained in work and memory
Believed by almost all living souls
For it was made by the founding fathers
By the people who believe they had discovered certainty.
We all believe we are heroes of this world
So we never give the real rescuer a second glance
Even so, they continue their thankless work
For all of us uncaring souls
All the while being swallowed and overshadowed
Always by unworthy people
