Real Sounds of War
Walls stand tall against the dark and gloomy night.
Bottles line the table full of medicine.
Cannons lifted up using sticks and leverage.
Flags used to communicate with the others for when to attack.
This is how the south was in the past past past..
The darkness is all you can see, never knowing when they will attack.
Never seeing when they come for you.
There are no shadows because everyone is hiding, waiting.
The only thing you can see is the fire burning.
This is how the south was in the past past past..
All you hear is gunfire.
All you hear is people screaming.
All you hear is the cannons going off.
You can’t escape the real sounds of war.
This is how the south was in the past past past..
How many people died for their country?
Too many.
How many people died of the diseases?
Too many.
How many people did what they would never do?
Too many.
This is how the south was in the past past past..
They feel cold.
They feel angry.
They feel frightened.
They are feeling emotions that will haunt them forever.
This is how the south was in the past past past..
