Growing Pains
Pain
A word that you don't just hear,
but you feel it,
like fire spreading through your veins.
Pain
You feel it when you fall
off of your pink bicycle,
and scrape your knee.
Pain
You feel it when the boy,
who you thought would love you forever,
breaks your heart.
Pain
You feel it when you see
an animal being beaten, or
starving children begging.
Pain
You feel it when death
seems to be just around the corner,
and all you remember is regret.
Pain
You feel it your whole life,
it grows as you do,
getting stronger as you do.
Pain
So thicken your skin,
otherwise pain is going to
tear you into pieces.
