Roses bleed red

Violets feel blue

Poetry is dead

Our voice is next too

They say, “Go ahead, just be yourself!”

But it won’t be our books sitting up on their shelf

“Your rhymes are oh so fine and dandy,

but please use words as sweet as candy”

No more swears, or pain you bear

Throw out the weed and ditch the speed

Pour out your beer and cling to your fears

Don’t use words that make you sound too bright

You might give people quite a fright

And now that you know what you cannot write

Please go home and pen a load of trite.

My principal told me one of my poems was inappropriate and not to share it with anybody. This is the second of my two retorts.
