Don't Wish Upon A Star
My life is a broken fairytale.
The lush green forest that once enchanted
and protected me is now charred and grey
from the overbearing inferno
that ignited unexpectedly.
The tangled ropes of society have left
me trapped and vulnerable
to losing my tiara,
but has the crown ever truly been mine?
“You get out of life
what you put in,”
my mother once told me
but I still manage to receive
questionable apples
and a dragon of an enemy.
I cringed at the idea of
fiery beasts before I realized
I was becoming one myself.
