The Good Thief
It's a punishment for thieves,
but they say it was deserved.
Yet they have not yet learned
what everyone believes.
He was not a thief
like the other two.
I have no clue
if he will ever have relief.
He was not a criminal,
but up there he is,
as if it were his
punishment, but yes, it's biblical.
But what He did steal,
I cannot bame him for
because I am like a prisoner of war,
begging for another meal.
He stole everything
My life, my beliefs, my world,
everything I had, He unfurled.
I should have felt like nothing.
But, at the same time, I felt full.
Fuller than I have ever been,
Seeing more than I have ever seen.
Life was no longer dull!
The Good Thief stole my heart,
he stole my sins and doubts,
and something else now sprouts,
because nothing can tear us apart.
