Blisters
Calloused cut hands working
through all the scratches, scrapes and scars,
not paying attention to the lacerations,
because he was determined.
He worked hard where work was to be had.
He worked for money, but not for the luxurious type.
He worked not because it was his dream job—
he worked determinedly to keep his family’s dreams alive.
He tried to bring what he could home with him
It wasn’t always food or happiness
But he tried bringing home what he thought was most important,
He brought determination,
That his children would have a better life
