Rosebushes
I have no power against the spiral
the spiral of emotions
of events
of people
of life
which is steering her
astray
off towards the rosebushes
which are further and further away
with each step she takes
the thorns are hidden
they always are
they line this new path
and guard the rosebushes
her feet bleed as she walks
towards
the rosebushes, the pretty rosebushes
the roses, the pretty roses
I have no power against the spiral
so I run
I run to control my feet,
my steps,
my path
the only thing I can control these days
their speed
their might
their distance
are all instilled in me
I run and run and run
in my own direction
towards the wildflowers
the rhythm puts me at peace
for a moment
I have no power against the spiral
but I have the power to control my own feet.
