Where I'm From
I am from sticky buns, Mountain Dew, and swimming in the lake
From clocks chiming, horses whining, and bees in the yard
From tractor racing, small towns escaped, and family fights till dawn
I am from Daddy swinging, Mommy yelling and now he's long gone
I am from red light, green light, and running into your arms
From Grammy and Pappy and singing in car
From cards kept from long ago
I am from starting over and a broken home restored
From a sister who never understood
From a brother who never would
And from a mother who wished she could
I am from long nights sitting by the fire
From letting go and falling
From no one there to catch me
I am from the broken pieces scattered on the floor
From gluing the pieces back together
From the pieces that made me
