You Left Behind
You took my hand, looked me in the eyes,
Somehow you still found a way to lie.
You left me standing in the cold, confused and so alone,
But you left behind this beating heart of mine,
You shattered my heart, leaving the pieces behind,
The way you left, forgetting everything you left behind.
So I thought you loved me, but you proved me wrong,
All by myself now I shall walk along,
The memories swirl throughout my head,
I cry and wonder, I feel filled with regret,
I don't know how, unsure where I went wrong,
Not sure if it was what I said, or what I did,
But I know it was my fault that you left.
It must have been coming for some time now,
I could feel us spread apart, but I want you to know,
I didn't lie when I said you had my heart,
I gave it to you in the hopes that you'd keep it forever,
Now I'm alone because I miss you, but you'll love me never.
