Standing on the field
Stupid stretches
Wondering why I’m doing this
No fun at all

“Ping”

I turn around
My team does the same
We see a ball traveling over the center field fence
We stare at the “Big Kid”
Who walks back to the dugout like nothing happened

Coach snaps our heads back around and says
“Those kids just didn't start yesterday,
They started at your age
Soon enough you will be a “big kid” as well
On the high school field
