Fear.
Today I tasted fear,
It was sweet-so sweet it was sour.
Today I felt fear,
It was a dark, sick curl in my gut.
Today I heard fear,
It gasped and shook.
Today I saw fear,
It was dark, bloody maroon.
Today I smelled fear,
It was dark and slimy.
Today fear captured me.
It held me tight.
My lungs gasped, my head ached,
My throat burned,
And I almost fell.
Today I conquered fear,
Struck it down quickly,
Stood above it,
Saw over the hill of lies,
And saw my friends,
And my family.
Today I became me.
