Where Did We Go?
Every word is another missile launched.
Your words aren’t meant to hurt,
they’re meant to kill.
Snide comments turn to flat out insults so quickly.
Empty the hate out of yourself
and ladle sorrow into my soul.
Slowly sanding away my confidence
and planting seeds of self-doubt.
Sprouting, germinating, and spreading
like an invasive species.
I search your eyes
for a glimmer of the person
you once were,
like the moon wondering
where her lost love has gone.
One look into that cold, dry tundra
tells me you’re gone too.
For good.
