Music of Fear
A ghastly wail cuts the Night
Like flesh sliced deeply off the bone
Accompanied by piercing shrieks
To form a haunting harmony
The fear starts slight—a little shiver
Trickling down your spine
But grown into a roiling ball
As bile starts to rise
The drumbeat starts—it’s pounding feet
Your breath speeds up in time
As other howls join the tune
Discarding rhythm and rhyme
The night is dark, the moon is gone
You know you should be, too
You force yourself to move and then
Before you reach the trees
The music crashes, red hearts stop
And it all ends with a scream
