what lies beyond
kings and queens
Dutch and duchess
nobles and all royals
come and gather
for this untimely event
the showing of the less fortunate
of the poorest of all citizens
the ones beaten and starved
torched and hated
ignored and distraught
all alone
no friends no family
not loved or cared for
but still seem to hang on
even by the threads to their dignity
these are my role models
these are my friends
this is my world
but yet a girl forced to the front
a princess, seated by the king and queen
calm and delightful on the outside
but inside she trembles
cold and alone
hoping they don't see through her mask
knowing she belongs down there
forced to watch the pity of others
when she knows enough
to make her cry
misunderstood hidden in darkness
