Fred Mountain
At the bottom looking up
Dreaming about reaching the peak
Rippling creek pushing, carving out the slate
Sun peeking through the range
Miles of thick forest coating the highland
Feeling the burning in my legs
Rough stones pounding into sole of shoes
Sweat dripping down my face
Losing strength
Imagining reaching the pinnacle
Keep pushing
Glare at wildlife as ascension continues
Amber aspen leaves floating off trees
Almost there
Won't stop pushing now
At the summit
Bright sun glistens against my eyes
Glancing over the range, satisfied
Overcame all odds, done pushing
Relieved, though not finished
The journey isn't reaching the peak, but pushing yourself every step on the way up
