This story of my own
is a story of everything I've ever known:

This story you coax me to tell
has been heard a million times,
a story you had already written for me
long before i was given a chance,

i'm a byproduct of my environment;
A social experiment of sorts;
Another soldier fighting others' battles,
with no armor on.

i've been told to bear the rain,
and withstand every storm,
had I lasted till the end,
the light would shine upon my world

Yet this day I lived to see
Was not the day i've bled for;

And now I bask in the light of a world
I was never meant to be a part of
