Warfields
The body and the mind will always be at war as I watch your legs give out from under you but I watch your mouth stay shut.
Somehow through the agony and embarrassment you do not flinch, or yell out for help.
I wonder how close to death you are willing to tread until you forget your humility and dignity.
I am the innocent bystander of the slow death in your heart.
As your legs give out so does the love you have managed to fish out of your heart for us.
As your children watch you go to war with yourself, the brutal battles that overtake you, they scream out for the help you are too afraid to ask for.
When your children scream for help now, they are screaming for themselves.
They have been caught in the crossfire of your body and mind.
Do not forget the damage a war will cost everyone except the one who has started it.
