Amniotic
Amniotic
how blind are we to not heed the sea's warnings .
a moon pulling its weight
pulling a crest that never
breaks
I would change the tide and banish the moon
Just for the day to linger on
For the sun can only puncture so
deep
into an already rising boil
the mother folds into the
pain
into an already unraveling stitch
oceans placed so widely, a protest to be
viewed
creatures within her belly feel a sondering confusion
all that cries in the mothers
hearts
is the remembrance of a once overflowing belly
a daughter now runs to the
sea
ignoring the sand that begs her to sink
while lifeless shells rise about
she suits herself to become
one with all.

My name is Madalyn Lazarini. This poem really means a lot to me. It is an explanation of goodbyes, a mothers pain, and a daughter just wanting to dive into a world that unknown pain the mother knows so well. The daughter hoping as she grows more opportunities and happiness will rise with her passion. I am graduating in a year, so it is scary to imagine where I will be. But I wanted to show a shared pain between mother and daughter.
