What is fate?
What is fate?
Is fate what is meant to be?
Is it what humans may create?
The thought that one day we could be free?
But what if fate comes too late?
Like a blossoming tree we plant for our kin,
Fate could come at any time,
Even later than the time we are in.
Let me tell you now, fate is certain,
Like a raging tsunami, it will prevail,
None of the less, in the end all will be well.

In September of 2022, I was asked to write a piece of poetry for an assignment for english class. I've always considered my writing sub-par, but I think that is because I never really gave creative writing a try. Nevertheless, I was not expecting an email back from my teacher encouraging me to pursue poetry further. I would consider myself one who is particularly keen when pursuing skills I possess, so I immediately dove into the vast pool of poetry. After showing my first few pieces to my teacher, we decided one one specific piece, named "To contemplate fate". After a bit of editing and a title change, me and my teacher agreed that I should submit the poem to teen ink so it could possibly get posted.
