The one that got away
The calm sea and the beautiful white sand
Stretched out in front of me. I thought
our day was going perfectly. But little did
I know it wasn't it was the Opposite. He
told me something that made me feel
Like my heart dropped. He apologized
and walked away, Leaving me at the
beach all alone. I was so confused and
I sat in the sand heartbroken as I watched
the waves leap back and forth. I shut my
eyes and the world disappeared. I lift
My lids and all I see is him with me. I feel
my fist clenched around my heart but can't
seem to loosen up the grip. Everything seems
Dark. I guess if he can walk away from me I
Have to let him walk. Everything fades to black
Nothing left but our heartbeats.

My name is Aliyah. I'm from Chicago. I go to Ridgway Middle-High school. I'm in 10th grade and 15 years old. I'm an artist, a photographer, and a writer. What inspired me to write this is a short paragraph I read on social media about a sad love story so I decided I wanted to write one myself.
