New Kid
I still remember the day that I had to leave it all
And move to the city where I felt so small
Blue skies turned grey but we had to stay
My family didn’t have a choice
And I didn’t have a voice
I was greeted by a concrete jungle
And was forced to struggle
To find my place in my new “home”
Except all I could do was roam
I was a kid and I was young
And I couldn’t speak their tongue
So they treated me like I was less
Because I did not possess
The same things that they did
So I was forced to get rid
Of the way of life that I knew
And make my accent subdue
And that’s how I found
What it’s like to be the new kid in town
