A Dark Tunnel
The tunnel is so long, I lost the light
from whence I came. I am in total darkness
yet I march forward, stumbling on rocks
and slamming into walls. Just when my body
aches and gives up from under me, I see it.
A faint glow straight ahead.
The checkered flag is waved
right in front of my face. My dilapidated being
heaves itself forward and gains the stamina
to charge towards the end.
The light is so beautiful,
it makes the perilous journey
worth it.
