Three am is For the Teenagers
They say that three am is for the dreamers,
But it’s for the people to be afraid of what they might see in their dreams.
They say that three am is for the thinkers,
When in reality it's for the overthinkers.
They say that three am is for the artists,
The painters,
The singers,
They writers,
But honestly three am is for the teenagers.
The teenagers doing their homework as school silently suffocates them.
The teenagers out partying because they don’t want to go home.
The teenagers listening to music as they are crying into their pillow.
The teenage lovebirds dancing under the stars.
The teenagers that are staring at the ceiling overthinking everything.
The teenagers spending the night at their best friend's house because their mom’s boyfriend is over again.
The teenagers reading books until they pass out with them in their arms.
The teenagers having fun.
So yeah,
Three am is for the teenagers.
The teenagers who are falling in love with life.
The teenagers that are laughing more than they cry.
The teenagers that find joy in life.
The teenagers that don’t let school suck them dry.
The teenagers that don’t think true love is a lie.
The teenagers that aren’t worried about tomorrow.
The teenagers that dance till the sun comes up.
Three am is for the teenagers.

I wrote this poem late at night when I couldn't sleep. I remembered how people are always saying that three am is for this person, or that person, but then I was thinking, who really are the people that stay up until three am. The stressed, happy, overcaffinated, over worked, tired, sad, teenagers.
