Streaks of Us
Trying to move on
From what was
From what cannot be anymore
It's hard for me
Is it hard for you?
Looking back
Into the past
Seeing us
Seeing what we were
And then what we are now
Barely friends
Barely talking
Dry conversations that lead to knowhere
And leaving eachother on delivered for hours
I saw it all
Did you see it?
The signs
Streaked throughout our complicated history
Streaks of a love never spoken of
Streaks of feelings that never seem to go away
Streaks of our childhood
Spent together making brownies in my kitchen
And playing retro video games on your living room floor
Playing pingpong until midnight in your basement
And going on walks along the train tracks by my old house
Streaks of us
That haven't seemed to fade away yet
Streaks of us that will never fade away
From our past
From our memories
No matter how hard you scrub
No matter how hard you try to blot it out
With new girlfriends and school
With people that aren't me
With people who will never be me
Because
There's just some history that will never be forgotten.

This poem is about it being hard to move on and forget everything when that person was your entire world.
