Windy Warrior

He swivels his head from left to right,
scanning for anyone in distress.
The time has finally come, for he sees a child
stumble in through the back door
sweaty, sticky, and smelly, fallen victim
to the heat.
He billows large gusts of wind
in all directions
fighting to cool the child’s sizzling skin.
The child, grateful for his friends assistance,
unplugs the warrior
so he can get much needed rest
before he is called back to battle once again.
