Study for Someday
Afternoon to late dusk
Every day
I strap myself down
To study away
I want to see life
And live for today
But forcing myself, I sit down and say:
The lord has given
Me a brain
Opportunities
Which I cannot refrain
So I will stay
And study away
I'll be someone
Someday
I envy the pirates
New adventures each day
But deep down they wish
They could have lives
More stable than clay
Its handed to me
So why not obey?
I'll be someone
Someday
On that someday
So faraway
I'll be loving my work
and eating filets
And to my kids,
I hope I don’t say:
The lord has given
You a brain
Opportunities
Which you cannot refrain
So you will stay
And do what I say
Don’t think of today, but of
Someday
