Moth To A Flame
I had one burning desire.
It burned so bright I couldn’t help but go toward it
like a moth to a flame.
I fluttered around it, merely touching the small sparks.
The warmth of it drew me in,
and I felt I needed to go closer.
So I did
and dove towards the flame.
Recklessly.
The desire burned my wings,
but I still stayed,
trying to set out the flame.
But it dominated.
The fire engulfed me into flames completely,
and I fell into the cold, empty darkness,
watching my light shrink smaller and smaller.
I was still burning.
The flames didn’t wither away
until my desire died out.
