Ashes of the Amazon
How deadly that small cigarette can be...
One puff and all your worries set free.
However once the nicotine travels to your lungs,
The permanent damage is done.
The world is now at a time of need,
For us to help, do some deed.
Its lungs are burning right now
As the Amazon forest falls down in ashes.
Animals fleeing with all their might.
The plants soaking in the last time they'll see the light.
And you might say, forest fires are natural,
But you should know the truth behind this terror.
The earth's lungs are turning black.
As it involuntarily takes a puff of the cigarette and hacks.
A cigarette made of something deadlier than nicotine.
A cigarette made by something called human greed.

This piece is to bring awareness to the Amazon forest fires. The "Earth's lungs" have been on fire more than three weeks and it is not a natural forest fire. This poem also brings attention to the real cause behind calamity and most others.
