Little Girl
Races, runs, rockets into space
the little girl pretends.
Her treasured blanket, soft and snugly,
clinging to her shoulders.
She flies among the planets,
soars between the stars.
Suddenly, thrown back to reality,
she wakes up from the dream.
In her own tornado blown room.
No stars.
No planets.
No rocket ship.
The blanket she loved so much,
is gone.
Alone, she sits down on her bed,
trying to remember,
the pretender,
the dreamer,
that little girl.
