her worst fears
he looked at her like she put the stars in the sky
and it scared her.
he told her he was falling for her
and it scared her.
he tucked her hair behind her ear and told her that she was the best thing in this godforsaken world
and it scared her.
he kissed her breathless and held her tight, as if he wanted to have her heart beat against his for eternity
and it scared her.
she felt safe
warm
happy
loved.
the love scared her more than the thought of walking away from it
and so she did.
and it scares her.

this is mostly about my fear of intimacy and vulnerability in relationships, and reflecting on the events that led up to me and my ex boyfriend breaking up. in the end, I was afraid of being loved, and this poem highlights that.
