Colors
Red. The color of fiery passion and scarlet lipstick.
The burning of a sunset lighting up the evening sky.
The sweetness of deliciously juicy fruit,
perfectly ripened, refreshing on a hot summer evening,
and crimson candy, the first to be gone from the bag.
Orange. The color of leaves as the weather starts to cool down,
Signalling the start of a new school year, a new beginning.
The taste of tart but sweet citrus on a cool January morning.
Yellow. The color of sunshine warming a spring day.
Bright like a glass of fresh lemonade in summer
or a field of flowers following the warmth and light of the sunshine.
Green. The color of plants, life, and the earth.
Vibrant like a rainforest on a tropical island or the feathers on a parrot,
But just a little bitter like spinach, cabbage, or lettuce.
The heart of the rainbow; the center that fills it with being.
Blue. The color of the sky reflecting the ocean,
the chilliness of the crisp saltwater sparkling in the sunlight.
The hue of distant icy planets at the edge of the solar system
and of intensely burning stars beyond our galaxy.
Purple. The color of butterflies and sisterhood.
The color of community and hope
And of a sudden realization that I am not alone.
Black. The color of eyeliner and leather jackets.
The darkness of the night sky; a backdrop for millions of luminous stars.
